Biovia launches six strategic Roadmaps to shape the future of health innovation

RM intro banner

The future of health innovation is built together. That's why Biovia is launching six member-driven Roadmaps that will guide the Flemish health innovation ecosystem over the coming decade.

Developed through workshops and discussions with our members, the Roadmaps translate the ecosystem's most important challenges into shared ambitions, concrete priorities and collaborative actions. They are not static strategy documents—they are living action plans that will be driven by our members through dedicated Working Groups.

As Ann Van Gysel, CEO of Biovia, explains:

The future of healthcare isn't shaped by one organisation alone. It is built through collaboration, shared ambition and a clear vision.

From strategy to action

Each Roadmap addresses a key opportunity for the Flemish health innovation ecosystem:

  • Market Acceleration – helping healthtech innovations reach the market faster by addressing regulatory, clinical and commercial barriers.
  • Value-Based Healthcare – supporting the transition towards healthcare that delivers better patient outcomes through measurable value.
  • Clinical Trials – strengthening Belgium's position as a leading European hub for clinical research and next-generation trials.
  • TechBio & Translational Innovation – combining advanced biological models, AI and data to translate scientific discoveries into better development decisions and patient outcomes.
  • Immunology – accelerating end-to-end immunology innovation, from target discovery to scalable therapies.
  • Agtech & Industrial Biotech – connecting biotechnology and agrifood innovation to develop sustainable solutions for food and industry.

Together, these Roadmaps define where we want to go—and, more importantly, how we will get there. Find out more about the Roadmaps here.

Join a Working Group

The next step is putting these Roadmaps into action.

Biovia is establishing dedicated Working Groups where members can help refine priorities, identify shared challenges and develop collaborative innovation projects.

As a first concrete step, we are already preparing COOCK project proposals for four Roadmaps:

Additional Roadmaps will follow as the Working Groups continue to grow.

By joining a Working Group, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Shape the future direction of the ecosystem
  • Develop collaborative innovation projects
  • Connect with potential consortium partners
  • Help identify funding opportunities
  • Strengthen Flanders' position in European initiatives

Participation is flexible and involves just a few meetings per year, with the option to join focused discussions on topics of particular interest.

If you want to help shape the future of health innovation in Flanders, we invite you to join one of our Roadmap Working Groups or get in touch with the Roadmap lead.
